TESTIMONIAL
Exceptional Woman in Sustainability: Dr. Natalia Cano
Sustainability Impact Project: Sustainable use of energy and water resource in mining regions Impact: Achievement of SDG 6 Water and Sanitation and SDG 5 Gender Equality Study Country: Colombia Investment: Research and Innovation (21,500 AUD in funding) Status: Funded Coming from a disadvantaged neighbourhood in Medellin, Colombia, Dr. Natalia Cano struggled to conduct postdoctoral research abroad. Dr. Natalia Cano's dream came true after the Women Sustainability Forum and eWisely network helped her access a fully funded postdoctoral fellowship in Australia. Leader for eWisely Colombia, Dr. Cano completed her postdoctoral research, creating an impact in vulnerable mining regions of Colombia (see testimonial available in Spanish only). Her research has also contributed to the achievement of SDG 6 Water and Sanitation and SDG 5 Gender Equality in the Colombian case. It has also helped the mining industry in her home country integrate best sustainability practices into the business strategy and operations. Two of them were published in the International Journal of Women, Sustainability and Leadership Studies published by us.
